Spot a Fake

Spot a Fake Perfume — Quick Guide

A simple checklist to help you verify authenticity before and after you buy.

1) QR / Security Label

  • Scan the QR (if present). It should open the brand’s official site or a clear verification page.
  • Random short links, pop-ups, or errors = caution.
  • Note: not all brands use QR codes—use the full checklist.

2) Packaging

  • Tight cellophane wrap, clean seams, no tape.
  • Crisp printing, correct colors/foil/hologram where the brand uses them.
  • No spelling errors; edges straight; security seal intact.

3) Batch / Lot Code

  • Printed or engraved on both box and bottle.
  • Codes match; barcode scans normally.
  • Missing code or random stickers are red flags.

4) Bottle & Cap

  • Weighty, smooth glass; cap seats firmly/clicks.
  • Labels and logos centered, sharp, and consistent.

5) Spray & Scent

  • Atomizer: fine, even mist (no leaks/sputter).
  • Scent opens → develops → lasts according to concentration (EDT/EDP/Parfum).
  • Harsh alcohol smell or vanishing in minutes = suspect.

Don't forget to check real customer reviews/photos and a clear return policy.

Note: Brands differ. Exceptions exist (packaging updates, regional batches, reformulations). Use this as a general guide, not a final verdict.
